In the newer games pokemon have abilities as well as attacks. This is a list of what they do.
Acrobatic :If this pokemon has no hold item its speed increases. Adaptive : If this pokemon uses a move that is the same type as it, the power of the move increases. After Strike : This pokemon always moves slower than the foe. Airlock : Pokemon are not effected by the weather. Anger Nerve :This pokemon's attack rises when it is hit with a critical hit. Arena Trap : (Except for flying pokemon or ones w/ levitate) pokemon can't run away or switch out. Bad Luck :Foes have a higher chance of preforming a critical hit on this pokemon. Battle Armor : Pokemon with this ability can't be hit with a critical hit. Beligerance : If the opponent is the same gender as this pokemon, this pokemon's attack rises. Blaze : When pokemon with this ability has low health (1/3 or less) its attack is raised to 1.5x its normal power. Body Risk : All retalitory moves have increased power. Bravery : Allows this pokemon to hit ghost type pokemon with normal & fighting moves. Cacophony : Pokemon with this can't be affected by sound moves (sing roar etc). Chlorophyll : When it is sunny the pokemon's speed doubles. Clear Body : Pokemon with this ability can't have their stats lowered by an opponent. Cloud Nine : Pokemon aren't affected by the weather. Color Change: The pokemon with this ability becomes the same type of the attack that hits it. Colour Glasses : After using an ineffective attack, the power of that attack increases. Compound Eyes : The pokemon's accuracy is raised by 30% during battles. Cute Charm : A pokemon that physically attacks a pokemon that has this ability has a 30% chance of being attracted to it. Damp : No pokemon can use selfdestruct/explode while a pokemon with this ability is out. Danger Anticipate : Predicts super effective attacks from the foe. Detonate : If this pokemon was fainted by a physical attack the opponent recieves physical damage. Disuse : This pokemon can't use hold items. Download : Depending on the foe's strongest attack, this pokemon raises itsself in that stat. Drizzle : It starts raining when a pokemon with this ability comes out. Drought : The sun starts shining when a pokemon with this ability comes out. Dry Skin : If sunny day is in effect, this pokemon's hp desreases; if rain dance is in effect, this pokemon's hp increases. Early Bird : Pokemon that have this ability only sleep for 1/2 the time a normal pokemon would. Effect spore : If the opponent strikes a pokemon that has this ability with a physical attack, it has a 10% chance that it will be paralized, a 10% chance that it will be poisoned, and a 10% chance it will be put to sleep. Electric Engine : When this pokemon is hit with an electric attack its speed increases. Far Sight : Allows you to see your opponent's hold item. Filter : If the opponent attacks this pokemon with an super effective attack, it does half damage. Flame body : When physically attacking a pokemon with this ability the opponent has a 30% chance it will be burned. Flash Fire : When hit by a fire attack the pokemon takes no damage, in addition, the pokemon's attack is raised to 1.5x its normal power. Flower Head : Form Changes when sunny day is in effect, in addition stats are raised. Forcast : The pokemon with this ability changes its type with the weather. Gluttony : This pokemon uses held berries faster. Guts : A pokemon with this ability raises its attack to 1.5x when it has a status change (poison, paralysis, etc). Hard Rock : Super effective attacks against this pokemon do less damage. Heat Proof : Fire attacks used on this pokemon do less damage Honey Collect : Collects Sweet Honey After Battle. Huge Power : Pokemon with this power has its attack dubled in battle. Humble Heart : This pokemon's speed increases when flinched. Hustle : Pokemon's attack is raised to 1.5x, but accuracy is lowered to 80%. Hyper Cutter : Pokemon with this ability can't have their attack lowered by an opponent. Ice Body : This Pokemon's hp recovers during hail. Illuminate : Encounter more wild pokemon when this pokemon is in the 1st spot. Immunity : Pokemon with this ability can't be poisoned. Inner Focus : This pokemon can't flinch. Insomnia : Pokemon with this ability aren't put to sleep. Intimidate : Lower opponent's attack upon entering battle. Iron Fist : The power of this pokemon's punching moves is increased. Keen Eye : Opponent can't lower a pokemon with this ability's accuracy. Leaf Guard :Any status effects are healed when sunny day is in effect. Levitate : Pokemon is immune to ground moves. Lightning Rod : When in a 2 on 2 battle elec moves will target this pokemon. Limber : Pokemon with this ability cannot be paralized. Liquid Ooze : When opponent uses a move to absorb this pokemons hit points, it loses as many hit points as it would have gained. Magic Guard : Only damaging attacks work against this pokemon. Magma Armor : A pokemon with this ability can't be frozen. Magnet Pull : A steel type opponent can't be switched or run away. Marvel Scale : A pokemon with this ability raises its defense to 1.5x when it has a status ailment. Minus : When battling with a pokemon that has plus ability its special attack is raised to 1.5x. Moist Body : When Rain dance is active all status effects on this pokemon are healed. Multitype : Depending on he attached plate, this pokemon's type and form change. Natural : The foe's stat changes are ignored. Natural Cure : When a pokemon with this ability is pulled out of battle its status ailments are cured. Nightmare : When the enemy is asleep it loses health every turn. No Guard : All attacks while this pokemon is in battle have 100% accuracy. Normal Skin : All this pokemon's moves are normal type. Oblivious : A pokemon with this ability can't be attracted. Overgrow : When a pokemon with this ability has 1/3 health its gress type moves have 1.5x power. Own Tempo : A pokemon with this ability can't be confused. Pick Up : If the pokemon didn't have an item before the battle, it may be holding one after it. Plus : When fighting with (2vs2) a pokemon that has the minus ability its Special Attack is raisd by 1.5x. Poison Heal : This pokemon gains hp when it has a status ailment. Poison Point : When opponent attacks this pokemon with a physical attack it has a 30% chance of being poisoned. Pressure : Opponent uses twice as much pp. Psychic Dream : Allows you to see your opponent's attacks. Pure Power : This pokemon's attack is doubled in battle. Quick Feet : This pokemon has increased speed when it has a status ailment. Rain Dish : A pokemon with this ability recovers a bit of HP each turn when it rains. Rock Head : This pokemon doesn't take recoil damage. Rough Skin : Opponent takes recoil damage when he uses a physical attack. Run Away : This pokemon can run away in any non-trainer battle. Sand Stream : A sandstorm starts when this pokemon enters the battle. Sand Veil : This pokemon isn't hurt in a sandstorm, and gets increased evasion. Serene Grace : This ability doubles the chance that an attack's additional move will happen. Shadow Tag : (Except with baton pass) opponent can't run away or switch. Shed Skin : There is 1/3 chance each turn that this pokemon's status ailments will be cured. Shell Armor : Critical Hits won't hit this pokemon. Shield Dust : Additional effects no longer happen. Simple Minded : Effects from user's hold items and attacks are increased. Skill Link : Raises the number of times a move that hits multiple times hits. Slow Start : This pokemon's attack & speed are halved for the first few turns. Snipe : Increases the base value of an attack during a critical hit. Snow Hide : This pokemon's evasiveness raises in a hail storm. Snowstorm : When this pokemon comes out, a snowstorm is summoned. Soundproof : This pokemon isn't affected by sound attacks. Speed Boost : At the end of every turn this pokemon gets its speed increased by 1. Static : When opponent attacks with a physical attack it has a 30% chance of being paralized. Stench : Encounter less wild pokemon if this pokemon is in the 1st spot. Sticky Hold : This pokemon can't lose its item. Sturdy : This pokemon can't be 1 hit KOed. Suction Cups : This pokemon can't be switched out by opponent (roar, wirlwind). Sun Power : When sunny day is in effect, hp decreases and special attack increases. Swarm : When hp is below 1/3 it raises bug attacks by 1.5x. Swift Swim : A pokemon with ability has 2x speed when it is raining. Syncronize : When an opponent causes this pokemon to get a status ailment, it gets it too. Technician : The power of this pokemon's weaker moves are increased. Thick Fat : This pokemon takes only .5x damage when attacked by Ice/Fire moves. Torrent : When this pokemon has below 1/3 health its water moves deal 1.5x damage. Trace : When a pokemon with this ability goes into battle, it gets its opponent's ability. Truant : This pokemon will only listen to you every other turn. Unconventional : The opponents ability has no effect. Unstable Gait : Evasion increases when confused. Vital Spirit : Pokemon with this ability can't be put to sleep. Volt Absorb : Elec type moves heal this pokemon instead of damaging it. Water Absorb : Water moves heal a pokemon with this ability instead of damaging it. Water Lure : All water attacks must target this pokemon. Water Veil : A pokemon with this ability can't be burned. White Smoke : Attacks that lower abilities (atk def) don't affect this pokemon. Wonder Guard: This pokemon only takes damage from super effective attacks.
